Abdul Kassim, Co-Founder
Executive Director of KGSA

Abdul has been the Executive Director of KGSA for the last seven years. He continues to be an inspirational leader in his community as he works endlessly to create educational opportunities for the young women of Kibera. He believes that the experience of soccer has the power to bring people together, both male and female, breaking down gender barriers and stereotypes. It is Abdul's hope that KGSA and the community that has been formed around gender equality, will inspire and transcend beyond Kibera, and change the larger Kenyan culture for the future.

Salim Sebit, Co-Founder
Head Soccer Coach of KGSA

Salim has been involved with KGSA since the beginning. He became motivated to do something about the gender inequalities in Kibera when a group of girls came into the restaurant he was working at and began complaining about the lack of schools and other opportunities in Kibera. His frustration turned into action as he gave up his own home to serve as a space for the first school. He started out teaching agriculture and biology and has since become the Head Soccer Coach, and facilitates the Human Rights Club.

Richard Teka
Head Master of School Operations

Richard has been with KGSA since 2006 and is the current principal of the school. He got involved with KGSA because he wanted to help the young women in his community receive an education, as many do not have the opportunity in Kibera. He teaches math and chemistry and founded the Journalism Club in 2008. Richard believes that KGSA is a unique school, in that it is making a difference in everyone's life that is involved with the school, whether you are a teacher or a student.  top
