There are many ways that you can get involved with KGSA. Here is a list to choose from, but we welcome any other creative idea that you may have that would support our mission for the girls of KGSA.
Donate Directly to KGSA
By donating directly to KGSA, we can assess what needs are imminent and tend to those immediately. Feel free to contact us and ask what a donation would currently help support. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
Join Our Sponsor-a-Teacher Program
Download our Sponsor-a-Teacher brochure and help create a wage for one of our incredible teachers. For too long they have volunteered their time at KGSA receiving little to no compensation and we can't expect this of them any longer. Are you a part of a book club, sports team, or any other form of community? If so, see if you can convince 5 other friends to sponsor a teacher with you to reduce the cost and help sustain KGSA. Mail the brochure back with a check and be sure to state the length of time you would like to support one of our teachers for. top
Support our Feeding Program
We could never expect our girls to perform at their highest ability in their academic studies, athletics, or clubs if they were not receiving proper daily nourishment. Basic daily needs must be met first to allow anything else to unfold. Many of our girls were missing breakfast and lunch before our feeding program was established and it is crucial that it has the financial support to continue. With over 130 students, staff, and their families to feed, it costs roughly $150 a week to feed everyone at KGSA. Donate today and help ensure the continuation of our feeding program. top
Host a Fundraising Party and Watch Slum Survivors
Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN), a humanitarian organization featured KGSA in their documentary Slum Survivors. This film tells the stories of six individuals who live in Kibera and of their extraordinary strength while living in extreme poverty. Host a fundraising party and show the film to your friends and family! If you would like some additional talking points on Kibera and the school, we'd be more than happy to supply you with those as well. top
Volunteer at KGSA
Looking to travel or work abroad? Come to KGSA and work at the school for as long of a stay as you would like. We can help you find a family to live with in Nairobi, and can coordinate projects based on your own personal strengths, and interests. If interested, email us at Info@KiberaGirlsSoccerAcademy.org
Sponsor a Micro-Finance Loan
Recently, KGSA began a microfinance program providing business seminars and micro-loans to entrepreneurial parents of students at KGSA. The average loan amount is between $60-$150. With that, these parents are able to start their own small business, helping to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Donations in any amount are much appreciated, as your funds will help us give more loans to more parents. Plus, the typical micro-credit loan can be recycled up to 15 times!
